Any real man would have own an aircraft book when they were a boy that included those beautiful airbrushed side profiles of fighters and bombers. My father’s got a great print hanging in the family home of a Harrier Jump Jet in that exact style which inspired me to do some spaceships in that same style.

So here's a Pelican from the video game series 'Halo' that I've tarted up a bit using some decals and marking you might see on a conventional aircraft.

There's more to come in a similar series that may include (but is not limited to): Mk2 colonial Viper from BSG, A Jedi Fighter from Starwars, the Planet Express ship from Futurerama, a Thunderhawk from WH40k and the SR2 Normandy from Mass Effect. So watch this space.

Photoshop CS5.5. Halo and all associated designs, names, trademarks remain property of Microsoft, Bungie or 343 Industries, so on and so forth (just use ya common sense).

Great! May I suggest the Taiidan Interceptor from Homeworld? Or a GDI Orca Fighter? That'd be awesome! :)

For those unfamiliar with the Pelican a profile shot might have enhanced the overall work. I do not believe that the wing's shadow is strong enough to actually set itself apart from the body of the Pelican as a wing. Other than that it's a reasonably clean and nice, even if slightly conservative, work. I'd love to see some sketched or hand drawn elements being involved in the work instead of a fully digital approach. And I understand that because of the approach you've taken that you may not have shown anything in the background, but something similar to your Clone Dropship work would really liven this piece up. My opinion anyway. Otherwise, good job man, looking good. Can't wait to see the rest of the series.

Thanks, I pulled the design from the front of an A-10 Thunderbolt II but now you mention it it's very similar to the flame thrower decal.

not spot on, but good!
i could at least be even more in love if the body was a little longer and straight like the original

The tail end's as correct a length as I could get it. I think the problem is that i painted in an extra dorsal intake closer to the rear that really only appears on the Halo 3 model and not on original Halo CE model which is what most of this is based on. I mish-mashed from a few sources so i'll admit to some inaccuracies.
Thanks for the comment :)
